Dicranomyia (Erostrata) tabashii

Abstract

Dicranomyia (Erostrata) tabashii (Alexander, 1934) (Figs. 2, 26–28, 39, 44) Limonia (Limonia) tabashii Alexander, 1934: 39; Dicranomyia (Erostrata) tabashii: Savchenko & Krivolutskaya, 1976: 132; Savchenko, 1983: 138; Savchenko, 1989: 307; Savchenko et al, 1992: 342; Oosterbroek, 2018. Specimens examined: Holotype male, NORTH KOREA, Suigen, 16.IX.1930, I. Tabashi (USNM). Paratypes: NORTH KOREA: 1 male, same data as holotype. Other materials: JAPAN: [Honshu] 1 male, Aomori, Towada-shi, Okuse, Tsutanuma Path, 19.IX.2014, D. Kato (BLKU); 1 male, Niigata, Nagaoka-shi, Urase-machi, 20.VI–6.VII. 2015, S. Shimizu (MT / BLKU); 1 male, Nagano, Ôtaki-mura, Mt. Ontake-san, 22.VII.2016, D. Kato (BLKU); 1 male, Tottori, Yazu-chô, Mt. Ôgino-sen, 17.IX.2014, D. Kato (BLKU); 1 male, Okayama, Maniwa-shi, Hiruzen- Kamifukuda, Nawashirodani-gawa River, 24.VII.2016, D. Kato (BLKU); [Kyushu] 5 males, 3 females, Fukuoka Fukuoka-shi, Sawara-ku, Itaya, Mt. Sefuri-san, 5.IX.2015, D. Kato (BLKU); 2 males, Kumamoto, Yatsushiro-shi, Izumi-machi-Momiki, 22.IX.2015, D. Kato (BLKU). Diagnosis. General coloration (Fig. 39) pale brown to fulvous. Head with anterior part of vertex largely darkened, bearing silver pruinosity anteriorly; palpus (Fig. 2) two segmented. Abdomen dark brown, sternites and genital segments paler. Male genitalia (Fig. 26) with tergite 9 bearing a shallow V-shaped notch at middle of posterior margin; gonostylus pointed toward tip bearing a black spine. Ovipositor (as in Figs. 17–19) with cercus strongly curved dorsally; hypogynial valve about 1.5 times as long as sternite 8; furca wide, not extending beyond base of cercus. Description. Male. Body length 3.0– 4.5 mm. Wing length 4.3–6.3 mm. Head. Pale brown to dark brown, anterior part of vertex with silver pruinosity and with a pair of small nitidous areas on lateral sides, each area roughly square to horizontally long square, shorter than 1/4 width of narrowest part of vertex; antenna (Fig. 2) with scape and pedicel brown to dark brown, pedicel about twice as wide as basal flagellomeres, flagellar segments dark brown, without distinct pubescence; palpus (Fig. 2) two segmented, distal one shorter than basal one. Thorax. Pale brown to fulvous, pleuron sometimes slightly paler. Wing brownish hyaline. Legs with coxae, trochanters, and femora pale brown to brown, tibiae and tarsi dark brown, fore tibia slightly paler. Halter darkened on knob, base of the stem paler. Abdomen. Tergites dark brown, sternites paler, male genitalia pale brown to fulvous; posterior end of sternite 7 with internal sac large and conical, strongly darkened. Male genitalia (Fig. 26) with tergite 9 roughly square with rounded corners, caudal margin with a shallow and wide V-shaped notch at middle; gonocoxite cylindrical, longer than width of tergite 9, ventromesal lobe small and finger-shaped, about 1/6 as long as gonocoxite and 1.5–2 as long as width; gonostylus shorter than gonocoxite, widest near middle, gradually tapered toward tip, tip with a black spine directed medially, outer surface of gonostylus with a small protuberance bearing two stout setae near middle; paramere (Figs. 27–28) with mesal-apical lobe wide, weakly curved dorsally, tip rounded, lateral lobe of paramere absent; aedeagus (Fig. 27) flattened, narrowed on distal half and widened at tip, disc on distal part with a longitudinal groove, tip bilobed, directed lateroventrally. Female. Body length 3.7–4.5 mm. Wing length 4.7–5.3 mm. Almost same as male except terminalia. Ovipositor (as in Figs. 17–19) almost same as in description of D. reniformis sp. nov. The structural differences of ovipositors between these species are indistinct. Distribution. Japan (Honshu, Kyushu (Fig. 43)), North Korea, Russian Far East (Primorskiy kray, Sakhalin, Kuril Islands). This species is recorded from Japan for the first time. Remarks. This species is similar to D. reniformis sp. nov. and Limonia bagobo, but differing from them in the following combination of characters: wing with cell dm closed (open in L. bagobo); male genitalia with gonostylus gradually narrowed toward tip, without dense fine setae on ventral surface near tip (reniform with dense fine setae on ventral surface in D. reniformis sp. nov.).
