Abstract

Dolichogenidea obscurugosus Liu & Chen, sp. n. Figures 20, 37 Description. Female. Body length 2.4 mm, fore wing length 2.3 mm. Head. Transverse in dorsal view, 1.8× as wide as long and 1.2× wider than mesoscutum. Temple very short, only half of an eye in dorsal view, dull and shallowly punctate, a little rounded. Face rather shiny, with small fine punctures, sparsely pubescent, inner margin of eyes nearly parallel, transverse, 0.7× as high as wide. Ocelli relatively small, distance between fore and a hind ocellus a little longer than diameter of hind ocellus, posterior imaginary tangent to fore ocellus not touching hind two ocelli, POL:OD:OOL=3.8:2.0:4.6. A black line extended from middle ocellus to occiput. Antenna nearly as long as body, penultimate antennomere 1.5× longer than wide. Mesosoma. Length:breadth:height=38.0:23.0:29.2. Disc of mesonotum relatively shiny, shallowly punctate, interspaces decidedly larger than diameter of punctures. Scutellar sulcus nearly straight, narrow with shallow over 10 carinae in between. Scutellum relatively dull with shallow punctures all over. Lateral polished field of scutellum reaching up to half of scutellum, anteriorly of the field crenulo-rugulose. Propodeum relatively dull, rugose anteriorly, rugosity denser on other parts, posteral-lateral field near orifice distinctly shiny and polished. Mesopleuron highly polished, with setose punctures anteriorly. Legs. Spines on outer side of hind tibia sparse. Spurs of hind tibia equal in length, 2/5 length of hind basitarsus. Basitarsus of hind leg weakly shorter than tarsomeres 2–4 combined. Wings. Pterostigma 2.8× as long as its widest part. Vein 1-R1 (metacarp) weakly shorter than pterostigma, shorter (0.8×) than its distance from the apex of the marginal cell. Vein r arising from apex of pterostigma, slightly shorter than width of pterostigma, vein r as long as vein 2-SR, distinctly angled at their meeting, vein 2-M 4/5 length of vein 2-SR. 1 st discal cell 1.2× wider than high. 1 st submarginal cell of hind wing nearly 2× wider than high. Vein cu-a strongly curved inward. Metasoma. Much longer than thorax (48.5:38.0). T1 distinctly constricted posteriorly, 1.4× longer than wide posteriorly, concave at basal 2/5, dull and strongly rugose with T2. T2 slightly curved into T3 medially, transverse, 4.0× wider than long in the middle. T3 2.0× longer than T2. Tergites after T2 shiny, polished, pubescent almost all over. Hypopygium not longer than apex of abdomen. Ovipositor sheath 0.8× longer than hind tibia, relatively thick and gradually expanded before narrow end. Colour. Body black. Tegula yellowish brown. Spurs and palpi pale yellow. Antenna bright yellowish brown. Ovipositor sheath evenly dark brown. Labrum dark brown, mandible brown. Most of fore femur, fore and mid tibiae, basal 4/5 length of hind tibia and fore and mid tarsi bright yellow, distal one fifth of hind tibia and hind tarsus more or less fumous, mid and hind femora and coxae dark brown. Wing membrane hyaline, weakly fumous, vein 1-R1, C+SC+ R and pterostigma brown and other veins yellowish. Variation. Specimen from Zhejiang has a much longer ovipositor sheath (1.1× longer than hind tibia). Male. Unknown. Host. Unknown. Material examined. VIII.7, Guo Yuanchao, Nos. 20030303, 20030318; 1♀, Shengsi, Zhejiang, 1982. V.11, Wan Xingsheng, No. 821386. Distribution. China (Inner Mongolia, Zhejiang). Etymology. The specific name “ obscurugosus ” derived from Latin “obscur” and “rugosus”, referring to the species dull and rugose. Remarks. This species is similar to D. nixosiris (Papp) for its short metacarp, but can be easily separated from the latter in having the rather constricted T1, the transverse T2, and the strong rugosity of T1–2 and the propodeum.
