Abstract

Dichomeris schoutedeniella (Ghesquière, 1940), comb. nov.: Gelechiidae (Figs. 15 A–F) Lecithocera schoutedeniella Ghesquière, 1940. Annales du Musée du Congo belge, Zoologie 7: 59. TL: Uele, DR Congo. Material examined. 1♀ (holotype), Musée Du Congo, Uele, Ekwangatana, 12.iv.1932, J. Vrydagh; R. Det. C 4409; M 5471, gen. slide no. CIS-7141/ Park. Diagnosis. Female (Figs. 15A, B). The labial palpi which is one of the main important characters of the genus Dichomeris Hübner are broken, but it can be defined as belonging to the genus Dichomeris by the female genitalia with the corpus bursae having an accessory pouch arising from near the anterior end of the corpus bursae. Redescription. Wingspan 20 mm. Female genitalia (Figs. 15E, F). Antrum extremely broadened, broader than eighth abdominal segment, with heavily sclerotized, irregular plates. Ductus bursae scarcely defined with corpus bursae, having a heavily sclerotized plates. Corpus bursae with a lateral pouch near anterior end; an accessory bursa arising from near middle of corpus bursae. Remarks. This species does not belong to Lecithocera, nor the family Lecithoceridae, and is definitely belonging to the genus Dichomeris Hübner of Gelechiidae, by having an accessory bursa arising from the corpus bursae of the female genitalia. The species was described, based on a single female. Host plant. Coffea robusta (Rubiaceae) (Ghesquière, 1940). Distribution. Cameroon, Côte d’lvoire, DR Congo (Orientale), Ghana (Pujol, 1961).
