Importância ecológica do manguezal para a conservação da avifauna

Abstract

Várias espécies de aves têm um papel importante na manutenção do equilíbrio ecológico e a sustentabilidade ambiental dos manguezais, especialmente como polinizadoras e controladoras de pragas. Os manguezais são habitats que funcionam para as aves como um local de fornecimento de alimento, abrigo e áreas para a reprodução. As aves como as garças típicas de manguezais podem ser utilizadas como bioindicadoras na avaliação da biodiversidade, pois esses organismos podem ocupar vastos habitats de cadeias alimentares, sendo predadores de topo e participam de extensas redes ecológicas. A perda de uma espécie da cadeia alimentar poderá causar desequilíbrios ecológicos interferindo, por exemplo, na relação presa predador. Cada tipo de ave tem a habilidade de se adaptar ao seu ambiente. Tais ajustes podem ser na forma de mudanças comportamentais e alterações metabólicas como uma forma de flexibilidade adaptativa. A distribuição e diversidade das aves em cada região são diferentes, isso é influenciado pelas características do habitat, estrutura da vegetação e o nível de qualidade ambiental da região. As aves adaptadas ao mangue podem ser usadas como um indicador de mudança do ecossistema, pois as aves são animais que possuem flexibilidade dinâmica e alta mobilização respondendo rapidamente às mudanças que ocorrem no ambiente.
