Abstract

Department of Chemistry, Panjab University. Chandigarh-160 014 Manuscript received 26 September 1991, revised 27 January 1995, accepted 11 February 1995 A convenient stercoselective synthesis of N-[7-(3', 4'-methylenedioxyphenyl)-2E, 6E- hepladienoyl]pyrrolidine (l), an alkaloid isolated from the genus piper, has been performed starting from piperonal, where the stereochemistry was fixed by utilising the modified Wittig reaction.
