School of Studies in Chemistry, Jiwaji University, Gwalior-474 011, India Manuscript received 21 January 1999, revised 2 August 1999, accepted 13 August 1999 Electrochemical reduction of 4-(4'-sulphonamoyl)hydrazono-3-methyl-2-isoxazolin-5-ones has been studied over a wide pH range at dme and GC electrodes. These compounds give single, four-electron wave/peak corresponding to the reduction of hydrazono group. On the basis of polarography, cyclic voltammetry, coulometry and product identification, a reaction mechanism is proposed for the reduction of hydrazono group.
