China E-mail : xuzymail@mail.hz.zj.cn Fax : 86-571-88320609 Manuscript received 15 February 2002, accepted 21 June 2002 A facile synthesis of aromatic isocyanates using bis(trichlorometbyl)carbonate (BTC) is reported with high yields of products. BTC is used to supply phosgene in situ in stoichiometric amounts.
