Shri P. H.G. Municipal Arts and Science College, Kalol-382 721, India Matushri Virbaima Mahila Science & Home Science College (Saurashtra University), Kalavad Road, Rajkot-360 001, India Manuscript received 11 February 2003, revised 25 October 2004, accepted 2 February 2005 Mesogenic homologous series: p-(p'-n-alkoxyhcnzoyloxy)-o-mcthyl phenylazo-p"-chlorohcnzcnes are synthesized to understand the effects or structural variation on mesogenic characteristics. All the members of the homologous series exhibit nematogenic character enantiotropically except first and second homologues, which shows monotropic nematic character. Present series is predominantly nematogenic and partly smectogenic with its mesomorphic range from 39 to 76"C. Thermal stabilities and liquid crystal properties are compared with other structurally identical homologous series.

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
