Metodologia de determinação da presença de plástico em matéria orgânica do trato intestinal de peixes originários da região de Ubatuba-SP

Abstract

A presença de plástico no ambiente marinho é uma realidade atual. A presença desse material antropogênico nos oceanos se mostra cada vez maior devido ao descarte indevido do lixo. Os plásticos em partículas maiores acabam sendo ingeridos pelos peixes, testudines, aves oceânicas e mamíferos marinhos, enquanto os menores (microplástico, com tamanhos inferiores a 5 mm) entram na cadeia alimentar ao serem ingeridos por artrópodes, filtradores, equinodermas, zooplancton e fitoplancton. O impacto da ingestão de resíduos plásticos inclui desde a obstrução do trato intestinal, subnutrição e até a intoxicação dos animais. Considerando que a ingestão de plástico é uma causa de óbito significativa entre os animais marinhos, mostra-se necessária uma metodologia de quantificação da ingestão desse poluente para determinar a causa de morte do animal e a extensão da poluição marinha. Já existem registros de metodologias mais caras e de difícil reprodução a campo. A metodologia apresentada no trabalho é simples, barata e reproduzível em laboratórios menos equipados, exigindo apenas o uso de uma placa de aquecimento com agitador magnético e algumas vidrarias. Outros materiais utilizados incluem solução de 30% de peroxido de hidrogênio e solução aquosa de sulfato de ferro II a 0,05 mol. O método será empregado para a identificação qualitativa da presença de plástico no trato gastrointestinal de peixes originários da região de Ubatuba-SP.
