Abstract

Bulbostylis barbata (Rottb.) C.B. Clarke (1893: 651) ≡ Scirpus barbatus (Rottbøll 1772:27) Type:— Locality unknown: Anonymous 68 (holotype: C, C1000999!). = Bulbostylis eriophora (Steud.) H. Pfeiff (1943: 129), syn. nov. ≡ Cyperus eriophorus Steud. (1854: 50). Type:— China. Macao: 1832, J. Decaisne s.n. (holotype: P, P00068170!, the image of the holotype is available at https://science.mnhn.fr/institution/mnhn/collection/ p/item/p00068170). Distribution and habitat: —In China, Bulbostylis barbata is distributed in Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Liaoning, Nei Mongol, Shandong, Taiwan, Zhejiang. It is also distributed in Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kashmir, Korea, Laos, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam; tropical Africa, Atlantic Ocean islands, Australia, Indian Ocean islands, and North and Central America. The species grows on swamps, river margins, sandy places by water, shallow water, along trails, shady places and fields at elevations between 100–1300(–2500) m above sea level.
