Abstract

L’étude s’insère dans un projet de recherche en formation professionnelle initiale (FPI) par alternance en Suisse romande. Elle vise à investiguer les éléments définissant la qualité de la formation du point de vue de plusieurs acteurs du terrain : les apprenti·e·s, les enseignant·e·s en école professionnelle et les personnes formatrices en entreprise. Dans un contexte professionnel changeant et de plus en plus instable, les tensions de rôle prennent une place centrale dans la compréhension des dynamiques au travail. Cela est notamment le cas pour les apprenti·e·s formé·e·s en alternance, dont le statut peut s’avérer ambigu et mal défini. C’est dans ce cadre que des tensions de rôle décrites et vécues par des apprenti·e·s en FPI à partir des perceptions de la qualité ont été analysées. Quatorze focus groups semi-directifs avec des apprenti·e·s, des enseignant·e·s et des personnes formatrices ont mis en avant diverses thématiques liées aux tensions de rôle : le statut d’apprenant·e vs d’employé·e en entreprise et celui d’enfant vs d’adulte à l’école professionnelle. Ces dichotomies illustrent une réalité propre à la formation professionnelle par alternance : les apprenti·e·s doivent s’insérer dans un système professionnel de plus en plus tendu, où la place et le temps pour former viennent à manquer et où elles et ils doivent endosser des rôles qui ne leur sont pas (encore) propres. De telles tensions de rôle font en ce sens directement écho à la problématique de la qualité en FPI.
