Abstract

Apron feeder adalah sebuah alat yang mempunyai fungsi yaitu memindahkan material batu bara dari pembuangan pertama kereta api ke belt conveyor. Apron feeder memiliki sebuah gearbox yang berfungsi memperlambat putaran dari motor listrik ke turbo coupling melalui gearbox, lalu putaran diteruskan ke gear pinion(shaft input) dan gear pinion meneruskan putaran dari ke geardrive(shaft out put), danshaft out put ini memutar apron feeder untuk mengantar batu bara dari pembuangan pertama kereta api ke beltconveyor. Shaft ouput pada gearbox selalu mengalami kegagalan structure material sehingga perlu dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui perbandingan bahan yang tepat sehinggamengetahuibagaimana cara mengatasikerusakan yang sering terjadi pada shaft output. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode membandingkan bahan pada shaft melaluipengujian tarik dan pengujian komposisi. Hasil dari pengujian akan dianalisis sehingga bisa digunakan untuk menentukan bahan shaft yang tepat agar dapat meminimalisir kegagalan fungsi dari shaft output yang berupa crack dan memaksimalkan performance dari shaft ouput apron feeder.
