Aethes kasyi Razowski 1962

Abstract

Aethes kasyi Razowski, 1962 (Figs. 10–12) Material examined. 1♂, North Macedonia. Krivolak near Negotino, 19, 20.iv.2019, 1♀, Pepelište near Negotino, 23.vi.2018. DNA Barcode TMLF Lep 28714. Molecular data. BIN BOLD: BOLD ACS 3267 (n=2). There are no differences from the barcoded specimen from Bulgaria. Distribution. Bulgaria, Macedonia, Crimea, Transcaucasia, Asia Minor, Iran, Jordan, Afghanistan (Razowski, 1962, 1970, 2002, 2009; Kuznetzov 1978; Budashkin 1993, 2009; Sinev et al. 2019). Slovakia (Razowski 2002, 2009) was included in the range of this species by mistake, as a result of an incorrect identification of the only male, which was later redetermined as Aethes flagellana (Duponchel, [1836]) (Tokár et al. 1999). Note. Our study on A. kasyi from the Balkans confirms the conclusion of Yuriy Budashkin (1993) about the synonymy of A. kasyi with A. speciosa Razowski, 1962, as well as the incorrect representation of the male genitalia of this species in the revision of the Palaearctic Cochylini and European and Palaearctic Tortricidae (Razowski 1970, fig. 222, Kuznetzov 1978, fig. 248.1, Razowski 2002, fig. 168, Razowski 2009, fig. 266). The male genitalia of A. kasyi have been illustrated only on the German lepidopterological forum website so far (Lepiforum 2021).
