Abstract

Department of Chemistry, Govt. P.G. College, Kota-324 006, Rajasthan, India E-mail : sharda_ak@yahoo.co.in Manuscript received 07 October 2009, revised 19 April 2010, accepted 25 June 2010 α-Oxo-N-phenyl-(4-0uoroaryl)-2-azetidinones were prepared by reaction of appropriate α-oxo-N-phenyl-(4- nuoroaryl) ethanhydrazone and acetyl chloridelchloroacetyl chloride in dimethyl formamide (DMF). The reactions have been carried out by conventional and microwave methods. All the prepared compounds were characterized by their elemental analysis and spectral (IR, 1H NMR, mass) data. The compounds have been evaluated for their spermicidal activity in semen of Holstein Friesian cattle, antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, Fusarium oxysporum.
