VIDEOHQESCULTURAS: NARRATIVAS EM MOVIMENTO ENTRE O MATERIAL E O DIGITAL

Abstract

VideoComicSculptures: narratives in movement between the material and the digital This paper emphasizes the technologies that are involved in some of the steps of the creative processes of VideoComicSculptures - audiovisual narratives composed by sculptures in iron and paper and aesthetic elements of Comics’ language. From these processes’ movements, here we specifically choose the one that starts from the materiality of sculpture and comics towards the digital domain of the video, through questions related to the language of cinema. Spanish filmmaker José Val Del Omar’s Tactile Vision Theory (1992) serves as a primary referential as it deals on the valorization of sculpture’s texture and threedimensionality by giving them new narrative impact through a work with camera and light movements. Such movements are studied in their possible relations with theoretical contributions about script construction at the languages of comics - Gian Danton (2010) - and cinema - Marcel Martin (2005), Robert McKee (1997), amongst others -, and also with the concept of time-image developed by Gilles Deleuze (2005). This concept relates to cinematographic works where what is prioritized is not the unambiguous narration of sensory-motor situations, but a presentation of visual and sonorous time durations to be freely experimented by its audience.
