Authors revive the personality and work of Filip Moldoveanul (Philip the Moldavian; ? -1554/1555). Based on the earlier researches, in this study his biography is readjusted and explained. The authors emphasize Filip’s Moldavian origin, his supposedly Western academic formation, similarly, his printing activity in Sibiu. New facts and nuances are objectified regarding his printings and, especially, his first Romanian translation of the Gospel and its influence on the Romanian culture. Filip Moldoveanul’s three printing works, created between 1544 and 1553, are described in detail; clarifications are made on circulation and copies of his prints preserved till now.
