Das Virtuelle Kartenforum 2.0 (VKF) – vom SLUB-Produkt zur gemeinschaftlichen Weiterentwicklung?

Abstract

Das VKF bietet Zugriff auf georeferenzierte historische Karten. Aktuelle Weiterentwicklungen werden institutionenübergreifend geplant, die Betreuung liegt bisher allein bei der SLUB. Kann daraus ein gemeinsames geoinformatisches Angebot entstehen? Das Virtuelle Kartenforum 2.0 (VKF) wurde in einem DFG-Projekt mit mehreren Partnern entwickelt. Es ermöglicht Georeferenzierung, raumzeitliche Suche und Anzeige historischer Karten vor allem im Bestand der SLUB. Nachdem es anschließend allein durch die SLUB betreut wurde, werden technische und inhaltliche Weiterentwicklungen nun wieder in gemeinschaftlichen Kontexten geplant: als Teil staatlich geförderter Entwicklung (Stichwort NFDI) und als Beauftragung einer Privatfirma. Damit gehen vielfältige Aushandlungsprozesse einher, wobei die Gesamtverantwortung für das Produkt zunächst weiter allein bei der SLUB bleibt. An anderer Stelle haben wir dagegen den Schritt zur gemeinschaftlich verantworteten Entwicklung getan – eine Möglichkeit auch für das VKF? Wir wollen diskutieren, ob ein solcher Schritt für ein offenes geoinformatisches Angebot sinnvoll erscheint, wo Schnittmengen mit vergleichbaren Angeboten liegen und welche Erfahrungen für eine Umsetzung herangezogen werden könnten.
