Abstract

Euphorbia erythroxyloides Baker in J. Linn. Soc., Bot. 20: 252. 1884. Lectotypus (hic designatus): MADAGASCAR. Reg. Alaotra-Mangoro [Prov. Toamasina]: near Analamazoatra, 21.VI.1862, Meller s.n. (K [K000185260] image vue). Syntypi: MADAGASCAR: “ Central ”, s.d., Baron 1223 (K, P [P00077980] image vue). Reg. Alaotra-Mangoro [Prov. Toamasina]: near Ampasimpotsy, I.1882, Baron 1621 (K [K000185206] image vue; P [P00077981] image vue). = Euphorbia mangorensis Leandri in Notul. Syst. (Paris) 12: 73. 1945. Lectotypus (hic designatus): MADAGASCAR. Reg. Atsinanana [Prov. Toamasina]: Est-Centre, bords du Mangoro, s.d., 800 m, Perrier de la Bâthie 9898 (P [P00221924] image vue). Syntypus: ibid. loco, VIII.1912, Perrier de la Bâthie 9896 (P [P00078041, P00221925] image vue), syn. nov. Notes. – Il n’y a aucune différence notable entre les syntypes de E. erythroxyloides et de E. mangorensis. Les seules différences notées dans la description de E. mangorensis sont la taille et la forme des feuilles, différences que l’on ne retrouve pas vraiment dans les syntypes des deux espèces. Les habitats des deux espèces sont les mêmes, leurs localités type ne sont séparées que par une distance de 25 km et enfin une visite in situ nous montre des plantes strictement identiques dans les forêts d’Analamazaotra (Andasibe) et dans celles bordant la rivière Mangoro.
