Genus Pseudoparasitus Oudemans Pseudoparasitus Oudemans, 1902: 29. Type species Laelaps meridionalis G. & R. Canestrini, 1882, by original designation. Diagnosis. Laelapidae with the palp tarsal claw two-tined, or with two large tines and a small third tine; exopodal plate behind coxa IV large and triangular, not fused with peritrematal shields; genital shield large, especially broadened behind coxae IV, with 4–5 pairs of setae, two pairs of setae Jv1–Jv2 inserted on the shield in addition to setae st5, 1–2 pairs of setae Zv inserted near lateral margins of shield but never on the shield; shield without strong Λ-shaped lines but always with polygonal cells; anal shield free; distinct pre-sternal plates present; idiosomal setae usually smooth; chelicera of female chelate-dentate; genu and tibia I normally with three ventral setae and nine setae on genu IV, including only one posterolateral and ventral setae.
