The CZI mission to 'cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of the century' implicitly requires reaching everyone on Earth, which creates an imperative for Open Science to have a global reach. This requires situated (e.g., in the local language, locally and culturally grounded) Open Science organizations that flourish in their local context. The presenter discussed her experience with efforts building Open Source and Open Science in Latin America.
