Abstract

Leucophenga orientalis Lin & Wheeler (Figs 3 C, 3B, 4K, 4L, 9) Leucophenga orientalis Lin & Wheeler, 1972: 249; Okada, 1989: 808. Diagnosis. This species is somewhat similar to L. bellula in the pattern of abdominal tergites (Fig. 4 K, 4L), but can be distinguished from the latter by the 2nd abdominal tergite with brown patch (Fig. 4 K, 4L), and the scutellum yellow, with brown margin (Fig. 3 C). Description. Male and female: Frons yellow to yellowish brown. Pedicel and first flagellomere mostly yellow. Palpus brown in male, dark brown in female. Mesonotum yellow (Fig. 3 C). Acrostichal setulae in ca. 12–14 irregular rows (Fig. 3 C). Postpronotal lobe yellow (Fig. 3 D). Pleura nearly yellow (Fig. 3 D). Halter yellowish (Fig. 3 D). Male terminalia: Epandrium with 10 setae near posterior margin and ventral corner per side (Fig. 9 A). Paramere with ca. 15 sensilla distally (Fig. 9 B). Aedeagus slender basally, with pubescence on distal 1/3 (Fig. 9 B). Measurements. BL = 2.33–2.8 mm in 5♂, 2.67–3.00 mm in 5♀, ThL = 1.13–1.47 mm in ♂, 1.27–1.53 mm in ♀, WL = 2.33–3.07 mm in ♂, 2.33–2.87 mm in ♀, WW = 0.87–1.20 mm in ♂, 0.87–1.20 mm in ♀, arb = 5–7/2–3, avd = 0.80–1.00, adf = 2.00–2.50, flw = 2.00–3.00, FW/HW = 0.36–0.44, ch/o = 0.05–0.06, prorb = 0.50–1.33, rcorb = 0.75–1.17, vb = 0.33–0.67, dcl = 0.35–0.50, presctl = 0.47–0.64, sctl = 1.25–1.55, sterno = 0.67–0.82, orbito = 1.50–2.50, dcp = 0.21–0.42, sctlp = 0.75–1.00, C = 2.26–2.81, 4c = 1.13–1.55, 4v =1.92–2.75, 5x = 1.17– 1.83, ac = 1.89–2.83, M = 0.54–0.83, C3F = 0.63–0.74.
