Macrobiotus pallarii Maucci 1954 I have collected 191 specimens and 30 eggs from all habitats but MT. Cuticle showed very small pores, sometimes difficult to observe. Animal and egg morphologies corresponded to descriptions in Ramazzotti & Maucci (1983). Lunules on the fourth pair of legs had teeth in one-third of the populations. I found between 14 and 26 processes per egg and between 6 and 12 polygonal areas at the base of each process. Body size ranged from 330 to 1342 μm, mean 723 μm (SD 193). The species has been cited for Europe, Asia and America. In the Iberian Peninsula, it has been recorded for Spain (Lewin Osorio 1984). Macrobiotus pallarii was found at 30 sampling points (Table 3).
Published as part of Guil, Noemí, 2008, New records and within-species variability of Iberian tardigrades (Tardigrada), with comments on the species from the Echiniscus blumi-canadensis series, pp. 1-30 in Zootaxa 1757 on page 23, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.181845
