Abstract

Oreonectes furcocaudalis Zhu & Cao Fig. 3 Oreonectes furcocaudalis Zhu & Cao, 1987, Acta Zootaxon Sin, 12(3): 326 (outlet of subterranean water near the town of Rongshui County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China); Zhu, 1989, the Loaches of the Subfamily Nemacheilinae in China (Cypriniformes: Cobitidae): 24 (outlet of subterranean water near Rongshui County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China). Material examined: 4 ex. KIZ 9309003–04, 58.0– 58.7 mm SL, 69.9–72.2 mm TL; KIZ 9180006–07, 42.4– 45.5 mm SL, 52.9–55.2 mm TL, and a juvenile (KIZ 9180008, 24.5 mm SL, 31.7 mm TL), from Xia’ao Town, Du’an County, Guangxi, China. Diagnosis: Dorsum of head flat; eyes degenerate; lips slightly furrowed; dorsal-fin origin far anterior of pelvic-fin origin; high caudal-adipose keels on upper and lower edges of caudal peduncle, dorsal adipose crest from above anal-fin origin and confluent with caudal fin; ventral crest from anal-fin base and confluent with caudal fin; posterior of body with tiny scales; cephalic lateral-line system with 8 supraorbital pores, 4+8 infraorbital pores; caudal fin forked; vertebrae 4+30~32 (3). Distribution: Outlet of subterranean water near Town of Rongshui County and Xia’ao Township, Du’an County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Remark: New distributional record at Xia’ao Town, Du’an County, Guangxi, China; no sexual dimorphism observed.
