In this poster the progress of the COPIED study is visualised as of the 29th of october 2021. This poster was presented at the first symposium of the Dutch Parkinson's Scientists. Circumventing obstacles in thinking in Parkinson's disease A considerable number of people with Parkinson's suffer from obstacles in thinking, often even before the diagnosis. These include problems with attention and concentration, memory, speed of thinking and acting, keeping an overview and planning, stimulus processing and carrying out (double) tasks. There are as yet no scientifically substantiated aids for circumventing such obstacles. In the meantime, people with Parkinson's are incredibly creative in finding detours so that they can still carry out their daily activities. It is these detours that the researchers of the COPIED study have collected via 1:1 interviews & focus groups, validated with a questionnaire, and are currently transforming into a self-help tool that will be tested by the research participants before unleashing it to the Dutch Parkinson's community. Peer-2-Peer The COPIED study is a peer-2-peer research project. It is led by people with Parkinson's (patient researchers), harvests the detours that PwPD and their loved ones take to circumvent their obstacles in thinking, and subsequently shares such bundled detours with the community that provided the input.
