In this article the authors give information about the first record of mantis Iris polystictica in Kharkiv Region, which expands the information on the northeastern border of the species range in Ukraine. Findings of individuals of I. polystictica in the same locality for two consecutive years indicate the presence in it of a stable self-sustaining population in this territory. This species is widespread in the eastern regions of Ukraine much wider than previously thought. Brief data on the distribution and biology of this species are provided.
