Migration is the most important component out of the three components of population change and most helpful to understand regional elements of demographic studies. Migration makes the distribution of population on earth more meaningful. Therefore this paper is presented to represent spatial pattern and inter-state migration in India and to calculate state and sex wise variation in in-migration and out-migration across India. Present paper is based on census migration data of 2001 and 2011. In the presented paper, in-migration rate, out-migration rate, and variation in migration have been computed separately for both males and females. Simple percent distribution method is used to pattern of inter-state and intra-state migration across India. When we look at results, In-migration and out-migration have uneven pattern because more than half of total in-migrants and out-migrants clustered in 5 to 6 states only where urbanization and industrial growth is maximum and remains of the total migrants are spreader across other India. In 2001, migration was male dominated but in 2011, the picture is opposite and the migration became female dominated
