KOALA - Konsortiale Open-Access-Lösungen aufbauen

Abstract

Im Projekt KOALA (Konsortiale Open-Access-Lösungen aufbauen) werden konsortiale Lösungen zur Finanzierung von Open Access etabliert. Die gemeinschaftliche Finanzierung von Open-Access-Zeitschriften und -Buchreihen durch wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken stellt eine Alternative zum dominanten APC-Modell dar, bei dem Artikel einzeln von Autor*innen oder ihren Institutionen bezahlt werden. Das vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) geförderte Projekt startete im April 2021 und wird von der Technischen Informationsbibliothek (TIB) gemeinsam mit dem Kommunikations-, Informations-, Medienzentrum (KIM) der Universität Konstanz umgesetzt. Während der zweijährigen Laufzeit soll mindestens ein entsprechendes Konsortium als Finanzierungspartner für Open-Access-Periodika aufgebaut werden. In diesem Rahmen werden weitere Analysen durchgeführt und Umstellungen von Periodika auf Open Access begleitet. Zusätzlich wird ein zentraler Helpdesk für Herausgeber*innen geschaffen, die Unterstützung bei der Open-Access-Umstellung oder bei der Suche nach einer nachhaltigen Finanzierung benötigen. Die durch KOALA geschaffene Infrastruktur ermöglicht eine faire und nachhaltige Finanzierung qualitätsgesicherter Open-Access-Publikationen. Sie trägt dazu bei, finanzielle Hürden für Autor*innen abzubauen und damit die Teilhabe an Open-Access-Publikationen zu erleichtern. Das Poster stellt das Projekt vor und dient dazu, mit Interessierten ins Gespräch zu kommen, indem es auf die verschiedenen Perspektiven der Bezugsgruppen Bibliotheken, Herausgeber*innen und Verlage eingeht.
