Características sociodemográficas y clínicas asociadas a la infección parasitaria intestinal en los habitantes de la comuna Joa y Chade del Cantón Jipijapa

Abstract

Las parasitosis intestinales son enfermedades causadas por protozoarios y helmintos que afectan a más de 2 billones de personas de la población mundial y constituyen un problema de salud pública. Con la finalidad de determinar las características sociodemográficas y clínicas asociadas a la infección parasitaria en los habitantes de las comunas Chade y Joa del Cantón Jipijapa, Ecuador; se realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo, prospectivo, no experimental y de corte transversal, en 169 habitantes de la comuna Chade y 194 de la comuna Joa. Las muestras fueron analizadas mediante examen directo y técnica de sedimentación (PARATEST®); adicionalmente se aplicaron encuestas para conocer características sociodemográficas y clínicas de los participantes. Se obtuvo una prevalencia de parásitos intestinales de 57,4% (97/169) en la comuna Chade y en la comuna Joa de 56,7% (110/194). Las principales especies parasitarias identificandas fueron (Chade/Joa): Entamoeba histolytica/dispar/moshkovskii/bangladeshi 18,3%/11,3% y Blastocystis spp. 18,3%/23,7%.
