GENUS ALLOPLANDRIA PACE, 1999 A Alloplandria Pace, 1999a:152. Hanley, 2002a:318. Hanley, in press b. Type species: Alloplandria problematica Pace (1999a) by monotypy. Abbreviated description: Lengths of adults 1.8 mm. Body more or less parallel-sided; pubescence variably dense on head, pronotum, elytra, and abdominal terga and sterna. Head distinctly broader than long. Eyes moderate, about 0.5 times length of head. Antenna with 11 antennomeres; articles 1–3 elongate; segment 4 quadrate; articles 5–10 short, 1.3–2.0 times wider than long. Maxilla with length of lacinia shorter than galea, lacinia acute apically, teeth on adoral margin short, about 4 times longer than wide, and more or less closely placed, into two distinct regions and two large spinose setae on dorsal surface; membranous in apical 1/3, densely covered with rows of very short, fine hairs giving stubble appearance; maxillary palpi with 4 articles and a moderately defined pseudosegment, articles 2 and 3 with numerous long setae, articles 1, 4 and pseudosegment without setae. Labium with ligula elongate, as long as labial palpus 1, with forked apex; insertion of medial setae of prementum almost adjacent; median pseudopore field very narrow and linear; hypoglossal lobes long, typically reaching to apical 3/4 of ligula, with short, length subequal to width of lobe, comb-like setae along entire length of adoral margin. Labial palpi elongate, overall length about 15 times longer than greatest width. Pronotum subquadrate to transverse, about 1.3 times wider than long. Setae generally densely distributed, directed posteriorly. Elytra narrow, more or less parallel-sided; apico-lateral angles slightly sinuate; elytra together about as long as wide; microsetae numerous, uniformly distributed and directed posteriorly. Legs with tarsal formula 4-5-5; tarsal claws moderately long and slender. Abdomen somewhat fusiform, tapering apically to broadly pointed apex. Males with small posteromedian longtitudinal denticle on tergum VII. Aedeagus with bulb of median lobe elongate, subequal to length to tube; internal sac with numerous, fine spinules. Spermatheca broadly L-shaped with three primary divisions: basal bulb, simple and rounded at base; neck, significantly bent, at 120∞ angle; and tube, more or less straight. Comments: This abbreviated description for Alloplandria was extracted from Pace (1999a) only. No specimens representing this genus were examined. Only one species is included in this genus, A. problematica Pace. Distribution: ORIENTAL REGION. China [People’s Republic] (Hong Kong).
