Abstract

Raiamas steindachneri (Pellegrin, 1908) Barilius steindachneri Pellegrin, 1908: 208. LOCALITÉ TYPE. — Marigot de Mamou, près de Timbo, Guinée. DESCRIPTION. — Espèce de taille moyenne (maximum observé 125 mm LS). Bouche terminale grande, sans barbillons. Coloration argentée avec des barres verticales sombres ou des taches allongées verticalement sur les flancs. Nageoires orangé vif. DISTRIBUTION. — Connue des bassins côtiers de Guinée, Sierra Leone et Liberia. Au mont Nimba a été récoltée dans le Boan à Gopoupleu et dans le Nipoué à Yéalé (400 m). Citée sous le nom de Barilius silex Schultz, 1942 par Daget (1962: 583) et par Daget & Iltis (1965: 95, fig. 54). Sur la synonymie de Barilius silex avec Raiamas steindachneri, voir Lévêque & Bigorne, 1983 (Rev. Hydrobiol. trop. 16 (4): 383).
