Abstract

Propsephus limonius Girard, 1991 Propsephus limonius Girard, 1991a: 341. Holotype ♁ de la Guinée (MNHNP). Iconographie: Girard 1991a: 343, 345, 347. 33 individus: Lamotte et Roy, 1951. MATÉRIEL EXAMINÉ. — Nimba: prairies d’altitude situées entre 1100 et 1600 mètres, relevés quantitatifs de faune au niveau du sol effectués entre juillet et décembre 1951. C’est un Propsephus orophile, endémique du Nimba, qui marque une préférence certaine pour les prairies situées entre 1400 et 1600 mètres d’altitude. Toutefois, il semble un peu moins exigeant que Propsephus graminicola Girard, son congénère qui vit lui aussi dans la prairie d’altitude, et il descend volontiers le long des pentes; on le trouve encore dans les hautes herbes des savanes entre 1100 et 1200 mètres d’altitude. Il présente sensiblement le même habitus et le même dimorphisme sexuel que Propsephus graminicola Girard et les femelles de ces deux espèces sont parfois difficiles à séparer. Depuis sa description, trois exemplaires récoltés durant le même séjour ont été retrouvés sur des couches contenant du matériel non étudié.
