Abstract

Propsephus dentatus (Candèze, 1881) Psephus dentatus Candèze, 1881: 34. Lectotype ♀ du Gabon (IRSNB). Propsephus dentatus ¢ Schenkling 1925: 94. 2 individus: Lamotte, 1942; Lamotte, Amiet, Vanderplaetsen, 1956-1957. MATÉRIEL EXAMINÉ. — Nimba: Yalanzou, zone forestière de piedmont, II-VI.1942; camp du Gouan, 21.III.1957. C’est l’une des espèces qui compte parmi les plus fréquentes dans les régions forestières de l’Afrique occidentale. Comme beaucoup de ses congénères, elle est attirée par les lumières et elle se récolte, au tout début de la saison des pluies, dès le mois de mars. C’est ainsi qu’un grand nombre d’exemplaires ont été capturés dans diverses localités forestières de la Côte d’Ivoire (C. Girard, J.-M. Leroux, R. Vuattoux) et du Ghana (V.F. Eastop). L’espèce paraît un peu moins commune dans l’ex-Zaïre et au Cameroun, mais sa présence y est confirmée depuis longtemps. Comme je l’ai dit plus haut à propos du Propsephus christophei Girard, 1971, ce Propsephus entre dans un groupe d’espèces dont la partie supérieure des paramères des génitalia des mâles est longuement lancéolée. Propsephus dentatus se distingue de ses plus proches congénères par son habitus nettement moins robuste, ses antennes grêles à articles plus étroits, sa ponctuation, et enfin par la forme des paramères des génitalia mâles.
