Abstract

Pantolamprus perpulcher (Westwood, 1842) Ampedus perpulcher Westwood, 1842: 205. Type de l’‘‘Africa tropicali ’’ (non retrouvé, il était conservé autrefois dans la collection Melly, qui est aujourd’hui, en partie, au Musée de Genève). Pantolamprus perpulcher ¢ Candèze 1859: 17. 2 individus: Lamotte, 1942. MATÉRIEL EXAMINÉ. — Nimba: Yalé; Nion, II-VI.1942. C’est une espèce peu commune en Afrique occidentale; sa présence dans les forêts de piedmont du Nimba est intéressante et significative car elle montre que ce grand Pantolamprus est largement répandu dans toutes les grandes zones forestières de l’Afrique intertropicale.Toutefois, il semble bien plus fréquent dans les forêts primaires ou peu dégradées du Gabon et du Cameroun. C’est un Pantolamprus robuste, dont la tête mais aussi le pronotum sont d’un roux ferrugineux assez vif. Les élytres sont d’un bleu métallique, avec parfois de forts reflets violacés. Les antennes sont noires, à l’exception du premier et même souvent du second article qui sont d’un roux ferrugineux plus ou moins vif selon les individus. Les pattes sont d’un roux ferrugineux, à l’exception des tarses qui sont fortement rembrunis. Il ressemble beaucoup au Pantolamprus savagei Hope, 1843, et les deux espèces se distinguent parfois difficilement. Contrairement à d’autres Pantolamprus, celui-ci ne présente pas de variations chromatiques dignes d’être soulignées, et les ‘‘variétés’’ qui lui sont attribuées dans le catalogue de Schenkling (1925) appartiennent toutes à des espèces bien différentes (Girard 1992).
