Due to the newfound endemism of Stagmomantis carolina, it is necessary to reevaluate the previous names that have been historically synonymized with this species. Regarding those species with type localities from the United States, all but two are to be upheld as true synonyms. Stagmomantis (Stagmomantis) conspurcata (Serville, 1839) is suggested to be reinstated as a valid species to demarcate this population from that of carolina.
