Abstract

Philosophy. This manuscript is now IO Islamic 3030 in the India Office collections. [metadata: Otto Loth, A Catalogue of the Arabic Manuscripts in the Library of the India Office, (volume 1), no. 534 here with further notations and hyperlinks]. 534. 3030. Size 9 in. by 51/4 in.; foll. 26. Seven lines in a page. The First part of Sa’d al-dîn Mas’ûd b. ‘Omar TAFTÂZÂNÎ’S (d. A.H. 792) تهذيب المنطق و الكلام , which treats of Logic. See Ḥ. Kh. ii. 479, and Cat. Lugd. iii. 378. Printed at Lakhnau. Well written, in narrow columns, with frequent glosses of Various dates. On the last three pages are added the Greek names of the parts of the Logic, and some extracts from (Suhrawardî’s) 2 كتاب المشارع و المطارحات, and from other works. Foll. 23 and 26 should be transposed. This copy was made for Afḍal al-dîn Ja’far Ḥusainî Astarâbâdî, apparently near the end of the eleventh century. It became subsequently the property of Ḳâḍi ‘Abd al-nabî b. ‘Abd al-rasûl (A.H. 1130). 2 Cf. Cat. Lugd. iii. 353.
