Abstract

Stenus (s.str.) melanopus (MARSHAM 1802) Staphylinus melanopus MARSHAM 1802: 528. Stenus melanopus; HERMAN 2001: 2278 ff. Stenus sulcicollis STEPHENS 1833: 295; WATERHOUSE & JANSON 1855: 148f.; FAUVEL 1869: 492; RYE 1870: 84 syn.nov. WATERHOUSE & JANSON stellen 1855 fest, dass sich in STEPHENS’ Sammlung auf dem Platz von S. sulcicollis ein Exemplar des S. melanopus befindet. Wieso sie dieses Stück als "evidently misplaced" bezeichnen, bleibt unklar. FAUVEL hat das 1869 wohl ebenso gesehen, sonst hätte er seine Synonymie nicht ausgesprochen. RYE kannte FAUVELs Arbeit offenbar noch nicht, sonst hätte er sich ihm sicher angeschlossen. Bei S. sulcicollis, so dürfen wir mit Sicherheit annehmen, handelt es sich um ein nicht völlig ausgefärbtes Stück (" pedibus rufo-piceis ") des S. melanopus, worauf auch schon der Name " sulcicollis " bezeichnend hinweist. Ich wiederhole also und bekräftige hiermit die schon 1869 ausgesprochene Synonymie.
