Abstract

Nematogenia panamaensis (Eisen, 1900) Ocnerodrilus (Nematogenia) lacuum var. panamaensis Eisen, 1900: 127, Plate IX, Figs 55–65, 67 and Plate XI, Figs 114–116. Nematogenia panamaensis— Michaelsen 1900: 376; Gates 1942: 98; Gates 1972: 272; Thai 1983: 122; Thai 2000a: 311; Thai 2000b: 3; Huynh 2005a: 168; Blakemore 2008. Nematogenia josephina Cognetti, 1904, synonymized by Gates (1972). Type locality. Panama. Type material. Unknown. Records from Vietnam. Kon Tum (Kon Tum); Gia Lai (Pleiku); Dak Lak (Ban Me Thuot; Cu M'gar); Dak Nong (Gia Nghia); Lam Dong (Don Duong; Duc Trong; Da Lat); Binh Thuan (Duc Linh; Tuy Phong) (Thai 2000b). Distribution. Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Cameroons, Congo, Panama, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Costa Rica, Venezuela, and Bahamas (Gates 1972; Blakemore 2002). Vietnamese name. Giun sợi panama. Remarks. The species probably originates from tropical region of Africa (Gates 1972). In Vietnam, it has been found only in wet soils in hilly areas of the southcentral part and highlands of Vietnam (Thai 2000b).
