Abstract

Pithemera bicincta (Perrier, 1875) Perichaeta bicincta Perrier, 1875: 1044; Michaelsen 1900: 419. Pheretima bicincta— Gates 1972: 170; Nguyen 1994: 43; Thai 2000a: 308. Pithemera bicincta— Sims & Easton 1972: 202, 232; Lee, 1981: 563, Figs 29–30; Easton, 1981: 60; Easton, 1981: 60; 1982: 732; Blakemore 2002: 227, Fig. 2.18; Blakemore 2007a: 14; Blakemore 2008. Perichaeta violacea Beddard, 1895a: 407, synonymized by Michaelsen (1910: 84). Pithemera philippinensis James & Hong, 2004 (in: James et al. 2004): 9, Figs 2C–D, synonymized by Blakemore (2016: 19). See Blakemore (2002) for more synonyms. Type locality. Philippines (Mindoro, or Luzon). Type material. MNHN, France (AE 689-692) inspected by Michaelsen (1910: 84). Records from Vietnam. Quang Binh (Quang Trach) (Nguyen 1994). Distribution. A cosmopolitan species, frequently reported from Philippines, Myanmar, Taiwan, Java, Hawaii, Mexico, USA, Malaysia, India, West Indies, Japan, Samoa, Fiji, Penang west of Malacca, and Grenada in the Antilles, Australia (Blakemore 2002, 2007a). Remarks. Further examination was not possible because all previously collected material has been lost.
