The article is devoted to the issue of teenage depression. Discussed the history of the concept of «melancholy» from Hippocrates to the present day. Revealed the most known and widespread symptoms of depression, the basic types of the person are specified, taking into account their certain properties of a character, methods of reaction to stimuli coming from the outside. Examines the conditions that influence the onset of depression. Examines the factors that initiate depression in adolescents. Recommended ways to prevent depression during adolescence.
