Abstract

Diacanthochara cayennensis spec. nov. (Figg. 2, 13–14) Materiale tipico: Holotype ♂, Guyane Fr., Coralie, 16.XI.2011, leg. T. Struyve (IRSNB). Descrizione: Lunghezza 1,5 mm. Corpo lucido, giallo-bruno, con elitre brune, tranne la base che è giallo-bruna; base dell’addome giallo-rossiccia; antenne brune con i tre antennomeri basali giallo-bruni, zampe gialle. Occhi, in visione dorsale, più lunghi della regione postoculare. Secondo antennomero più breve del primo, terzo più breve del secondo, dal quarto al decimo trasversi. Reticolazione di capo e addome superficiale, quella del pronoto molto evanescente, quella delle elitre evidente. Punteggiatura del capo fitta e quasi invisibile. Granulosità del pronoto fitta e molto superficiale; quella delle elitre fine, fitta e poco saliente, quella dell’addome fitta ed evanescente. Fronte lievemente impressa. Edeago come in Figg. 13–14. Comparazioni: L’edeago della nuova specie, in visione laterale, è simile a quello di D. rufescens (PACE, 1983), comb. n. (olim Cousya) del Brasile, ma la sua lunghezza è di 0,2 mm, mentre quello di rufescens misura 0,38 mm. In visione ventrale, l’edeago presenta la parte intermedia a lati quasi paralleli, mentre l’edeago di rufescens è fortemente ristretto nella stessa porzione. Etimologia: La nuova specie prende il nome dalla città della Cayenna.
