Social networks essentially determine how social affiliation is created and experienced individually. The study examined the social networks of people living in residential homes in Switzerland between the ages of 50 and 65. The changes in the course of a year were also considered. A survey was conducted in six cantons. 241 residents answered the questionnaire. The number of support persons of the interviewed persons drops significantly during one year. This means that active strategies must be developed at various levels in order to maintain and strengthen the social networks of people who live in residential facilities.
