Acanthosoma Curtis 1824

Abstract

Genus Acanthosoma Curtis, 1824 Acanthosoma Curtis, 1824a: [legend to plate 20]. Type species by subsequent designation (CURTIS 1824b: [legend to plate 28]): Cimex haemorrhoidalis Linnaeus, 1758. Anaxandra Stål, 1876: 110. Type species by subsequent designation (DISTANT 1902: 321): Acanthosoma rufescens Dallas, 1851. Synonymized by KUMAR (1974: 53), confirmed by TSAI & RÉDEI (2015b: 5). Remark. A redefinition and a selected bibliography of the genus and redescriptions of selected species were provided by TSAI & RÉDEI (2015b). Diagnosis and distribution. The genus contains 23 previously described species occurring in temperate, subtropical and tropical regions of Eurasia (TSAI & RÉDEI 2015b). By describing four new species in the present effort, this number is now increased to 27. Twelve species are known to occur in Taiwan.
