Lytta vesicatoria subsp. viridicuprea A. Fleischer 1923

Authors: Batelka, Jan; Hájek, Jiří;

Lytta vesicatoria subsp. viridicuprea A. Fleischer 1923

Abstract

Lytta vesicatoria viridicuprea A. Fleischer, 1923 Lytta vesicatoria var. viridicuprea A. Fleischer, 1923: 89 [not! p. 49 as stated in BOLOGNA (2008)]. Seven syntypes are deposited in NMPC (ex coll. J. Fleischer). SYNTYPE (J): ‘Elisabetgrad / Cherson - Ukraj. / Dr Šulc [hw] / J. Fleischer / Mus. Praha [p] // SYNTYPE / Lytta / vesicatoria / var. viridicuprea Fleischer, 1923 / J. Batelka & J. Hájek des. 2015 [p, red label]’. SYNTYPE (J): ‘Elisabetgrad / Gub. Cherson [hw] / J. Fleischer / Mus. Praha [p] // SYNTYPE / Lytta / vesicatoria / var. viridicuprea Fleischer, 1923 / J. Batelka & J. Hájek des. 2015 [p, red label]’. SYNTYPES (3 ♀♀): ‘Elisabetgrad / Ukrajina [hw] / J. Fleischer / Mus. Praha [p] // SYNTYPE / Lytta / vesicatoria / var. viridicuprea Fleischer, 1923 / J. Batelka & J. Hájek des. 2015 [p, red label]’. SYNTYPE (♀): ‘Elisabetgrad / Gub. Cherson / Ukrajina [hw] / J. Fleischer / Mus. Praha [p] // SYNTYPE / Lytta / vesicatoria / var. viridicuprea Fleischer, 1923 / J. Batelka & J. Hájek des. 2015 [p, red label]’. SYNTYPE (♀): ‘Elisabetgrad / bezvýsledně / ozařován [hw] / J. Fleischer / Mus. Praha [p] // SYNTYPE / Lytta / vesicatoria / var. viridicuprea Fleischer, 1923 / J. Batelka & J. Hájek des. 2015 [p, red label]’. Current status. Junior synonym of Lytta (Lytta) vesicatoria vesicatoria (Linnaeus, 1758), see BOLOGNA (2008). Remark. FLEISCHER (1923) intended his variety Lytta vesicatoria var. viridicuprea as ‘more appropriate’ name for REITTER’ s (1890) variety L. v. var. dibapha. That variety was described based on form with orange longitudinal stripe on elytra, and FLEISCHER (1923) correctly stated that this form represents only a colour aberation within ‘normally’ green-coppery metallic specimens. However as FLEISCHER (1923) based his name on the description of specimens from Elisavetgrad [= nowadays Kirovograd], Ukraine, we introduce those specimens from NMPC here as the type specimens.
