Abstract

Neoseiulus knappi Zannou et al. (Fig. 12) Neoseiulus knappi Zannou, Moraes, Ueckermann & Oliveira, 2006: 17. Material examined. Kenya, 1 female, Ndere Island, Nyanza Province, December 12, 2005 (El-Banhawy). Female: Dorsal shield reticulated, 350 long, 150 wide, with six pairs of large pores. Measurements of dorsal setae: j1 19, j3 32, j4 23, j5 25, j6 35, J2 40, J5 12, z2 35, z4 37, z5 28, Z1 41, Z4 52, Z5 88, s4 50, S2 46, S4 40, S5 40, r3 42, R1 37, JV5 47. Setae Z 4 and Z5 serrated, remaining setae smooth. Peritrematal shield fused anteriorly with dorsal shield, reaching level of j1. Sternal shield smooth, distances between St I-St III 62, St II-St II 55, St IV on platelets. Genital shield 62 wide. Ventri-anal shield reticulated, 110 long, 72 wide with a pair of large elliptical pre-anal pores, and three pairs of pre-anal setae (JV1, JV2, ZV2). Two pairs of metapodal platelets, two pairs of sigillar sclerites, and four pairs of setae surrounding ventri-anal shield. Fixed digit of chelicera with seven teeth, movable digit with two teeth. Spermatheca calyx short cup shaped, 9 long, 7 wide, atrium small as long as wide (3), major duct long and conspicuous (25). Macrosetae undiscernible. Chaetotaxy: genu II 2, 2 / 0, 2/0, 1, genu III 1, 2 /1, 2/0, 1. Remarks. The female holotype and male paratype were collected from Imbo, Brundi June 14, 1990 (P. Ndayirajiie). Other collection records include Benin, Malawi, Kenya (Zannou et al., 2006).
