261. Hydrothaea Rondani, 1856: 94. CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Hydrotaea Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830; junior synonym of Hydrotaea Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830. New synonymy. FAMILY: MUSCIDAE. REMARKS: This is one of two original spellings (the other is Hydrotoea, page 212) in Rondani (1856), both of which are eligible as emendations by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “t” to “th” (Hydrothaea) or “a” to “o” (Hydrotoea) in the same work; however, as both names are used for the same taxon (Hydrotaea Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830), they cannot both be emendations. Acting as First Reviser, we select Hydrothaea as the correct original spelling, which relegates Hydrotoea (q. v.) to unavailable name status. [Hydrotoea] Rondani, 1856: 212.
