Corizoneura Rondani 1863

Abstract

136. Corizoneura Rondani, 1863: 85 [1864a: 85]. ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Pangonia appendiculata Macquart, 1837; Pangonia dives Macquart, 1846; Pangonia angusta Macquart, 1847. TYPE SPECIES: Pangonia appendiculata Macquart, 1837 [= Tabanus aethiopicus Thunberg, 1789], by subsequent designation (Coquillett, 1910: 528). CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Philoliche Wiedemann, 1820 [teste Chainey & Oldroyd (1980: 289)]. FAMILY: TABANIDAE. [Corthophila] Rondani, 1843c: 158 [1866b: 8; 1867a: 92]. CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Chortophila Macquart, 1835. FAMILY: ANTHOMYIIDAE. REMARKS: Criteria for making this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in Rondani (1843c). In later works by Rondani (1866b, 1867a) this is either an incorrect subsequent spelling or unjustified emendation (by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “ch” to “c” in the same work). We thus follow ICZN Code Article 33.5 in treating this spelling in later works as an incorrect subsequent spelling. 137. Criorhyna Rondani, 1865b: 229. CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Criorhina Meigen, 1822; junior synonym of Criorhina Meigen, 1822. New synonymy. FAMILY: SYRPHIDAE. REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “i” to “y” in the same work. 138. Criptopalpus Rondani, 1863: 94 [1864a: 94]. CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Cryptopalpus Rondani, 1850; junior synonym of Cryptopalpus Rondani, 1850. New synonymy. FAMILY: TACHINIDAE. REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “y” to “i” in the same work.
