Im iterativen Entwicklungsprozess des VR-Spiels „Ena wasawasa levu. Auf dem weiten Meer“ wurden zukünftige NutzerInnen als zentrales Erkenntnis- und Steuerungsinstrument mit einbezogen. So prägten ein erstes großes Testing im September 2019 anhand eines Virtual-Reality-Prototyps und eines Papier-Prototyps sowie ein zweites Testing im Januar 2020 mit einem reiferen Prototyp des VR-Spiels die weiteren Produktionsabläufe. Die Studie zeigt, dass durch die Testings und die Auswertung wesentliche Erkenntnisse u. a. zur Verständlichkeit, Handhabung, Spielmechanik und Schwierigkeitsgrad, emotionalen Wirkung, Vermittlung der Kernbotschaften sowie Hinweise für die Betreuung der VR-Stationen gewonnen werden.
