Fidicinoides pronoe (Walker, 1850) Cicada pronoe Walker 1850: 144. (Unknown collection locality) Cicada compacta Walker 1858b: 14. (South America). REMARKS. This is last of the four Fidicinoides species in Peru to have hyaline distal fore wings. The smaller size (wing span about 85 mm), male operculum forming a right triangle, the primary spine of the fore femur being adpressed to the femur, and the slightly recurved spine-like lateral extension of the lateral lobe of the uncus distinguish the species from F. determinata. It can be distinguished from F. opalina by the piceous body, infuscation at the base of the wings, and smoky distal fore wings in that species. It can be distinguished from the new species by the lack of a transverse piceous fascia on the head. DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported from Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Trinidad & Tobago, and Venezuela (Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Dorval et al. 2011; Maccagnan & Martinelli 2011; Sanborn & Maes 2012; Maes et al. 2012; Sanborn 2013; 2014a; 2018b).
