Abstract

La inactividad física, sedentarismo, consumo inadecuado de alimentos y mala autopercepción de la imagen corporal se relacionan con el exceso de peso, siendo este último un factor de riesgo para la aparición y desarrollo de enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles, también genera trastornos psicológicos frente a la percepción del cuerpo. Objetivo: establecer la relación entre características sociodemográficas, inactividad física, sedentarismo, consumo de alimentos y autopercepción de la imagen corporal con el exceso de peso en escolares de la Institución Educativa la Camila, Bello, 2017. Métodos: estudio transversal, descriptivo y con intención analítica, a partir de una base de datos de escolares de básica secundaria y media académica suministrada por la Institución Educativa la Camila. Se utilizó un modelo de regresión logística múltiple con fines explicativos. Resultados: Se analizaron 290 registros, se observó que los factores que mejor explican el exceso de peso en los escolares de la Institución Educativa la Camila de Bello, fueron pertenecer al ciclo educativo de básica secundaria (RPa: 1,43 IC95%: 0,02-168,8), trasladarse en vehículo (RPa: 1,13 IC95%: 1,76-21,34), percibir la apariencia física con exceso de peso (RPa: 3,15 IC95%: 2,60-3,48); Además, el consumo de dulces al menos una vez a la semana y sentir descontento con su cuerpo al compararse con demás compañeros. Ser hombre y nunca sentir la necesidad de ponerse a dieta, se comportaron como factores protectores. Conclusión: pertenecer al ciclo educativo de básica secundaria, trasladarse en vehículo, tener hasta 14 años de edad y ser mujer, aumentan la probabilidad de tener exceso de peso.
