Abstract

vignoni Meladomus vignoni Bourguignat, 1889: 177 [name made available by bibliographic reference to bernardianus Martens (1866: 286, pl. 70, figs. 1–4) non Morelet]. Type material — holotype [by monotypy: “Das beschreibene Exemplar”; Martens (1866: 286)]: SMNS [“Stuttgarter Naturalienkabinet” (Martens 1866: 286), not found in 2014]. Type locality —“Lagos Guineae superioris” (Martens 1866: 286). Distribution —“Haute Guinée ” (Bourguignat 1889: 177), “lac Tchad ” (Germain 1907d: 536). Remarks. Form of libyca Morelet, teste Kobelt (1911: 21). Synonym of libyca Morelet, teste G.B. Sowerby III (1916: 67). Valid species, teste Pilsbry & Bequaert (1927: 188), followed here. zambesianus Lanistes Zambesianus Furtado, 1886: 148 –150, pl. 7, figs. 1, 1a, 1b. Type material — holotype [by monotypy: “Un seul exemplaire”]: MNHN 4525. Type locality —“Fleuve Zambèse, au-dessous de Tete” [Zambezi River, below Tete, Mozambique]. Remarks. Synonym of ellipticus Martens, teste Germain (1907d: 534, 1908: 670), Kobelt (1909: 78; 1911: 8) and Connolly (1912: 257), followed by Cowie & Héros (2012: 819) and here. Synonym of ovum Troschel, teste G.B. Sowerby III (1916: 68). Valid species, teste Pilsbry & Bequaert (1927: 195). Listed by Paetel (1888: 482) as zambesianus “Cross.”.
